Morag Husband Campbell Medal
Call for design ideas
The South Georgia Association will be striking a new medal made possible by a generous bequest from a long-standing and enthusiastic supporter of the Association, Miss Morag Husband Campbell. It will comprise a Sterling silver relief medallion, 60mm in diameter. The name of the recipient and the year will be inscribed on the reverse. It is intended to award the Medal every year, or every other year, depending upon nominations.
The Association has agreed that the Medal should be awarded to individuals who have contributed significantly to the understanding, appreciation and promotion of South Georgia.
It is intended that the obverse of the Medal will carry a striking image of South Georgia, in light relief. We are, therefore, seeking designs, original or otherwise, that could form the main image. The image should be bold and comprise a clear line drawing capable of reproduction. The image should represent or capture the “spirit” or “essence” of South Georgia and be suitable for presentation in any of the following categories.
- scientific studies
- arts and humanities including culture, history, heritage, artistic endeavour etc.
- adventurous travel and "exploration"
- activities which enhance the wider appreciation of South Georgia (e.g. in the media or through administrative functions)

The contributions will be judged by the Committee and the chosen image acknowledged on the Medal. There will be a £50 award for the chosen image.
Please email your ideas to the secretary of the Association at secretary(at)southgeorgiaassociation.org by 31st October 2017.
